Earning All-State honors by finishing in the top
six of their respective weight classes last Saturday in the W.Va. State
Wrestling Tournament were twins Casey and Cole Ritchie.
The Calhoun team, represented by seven wrestlers,
scored 53 points and placed 14th of the 45 teams participating in the
66th annual event.
Casey Ritchie, the lone freshman in the AA-A field
of 28 matmen who qualified for Saturday night’s championships, lost 6-5
in the finals of the 126 lb. class.
The loss was the third to Dalton George (33-0) of
Williamstown, and represented the only blemishes on Casey’s 50-3 record.
He also led the Red Devils
with 301 points this year and was second in pins with 26.
It is only the second time in school history that a
wrestler has reached that level of victories.
Cole Ritchie, one of six freshmen in the
consolation finals, lost 7-0 in the 132 lb. class. He finished his
initial season with a record of 47-15 and was second in scoring with 265
points.
Also competing for Calhoun were seniors Andrew
Satterfield (285), Levi Gordon (132), and Austin Satterfield (160).
Andrew Satterfield was 2-2, with two pins and seven
points. On the season, he was 46-12, with 24 pins and 240 points.
Gordon was 2-2, with two pins and six points. His
season record was 47-17. He led the team with 29 pins and also scored
244 points.

on the season.
Other Red Devils in the line up for CCHS in the
state tournament were junior

Over-bay (1-2, 1 pin, 3
