Summer have you stressed or wrinkled? Want to feel good
about yourself? Who needs a spa? Try a few of the following tips.
--Want an inexpensive, but dependable, way to give
yourself a facial? Put a cup of oatmeal in your blender and grind it to
a powder. Measure it and add the same amount of powdered milk to the
oatmeal. Add just enough water to make a fairly thick paste. Put a
little in your hands and apply it to your face. Let it dry and leave it
on until your skin feels tight. Remove it with a hot towel. The best
part is that you can add a bit more water and some sugar and heat it and
eat it out of the bowl that you mixed it in to begin with.
--Need to relax? Have stress? How about a warm bath with
a little scented oil in the water? Light a candle and put on some
relaxing music; then you’re ready to face the world.
--Want to start your day with a bang? Get up just 10
minutes earlier than usual. Fix yourself a cup of tea or coffee, sit in
a comfy chair, and just think about how lucky you really are. Now you
are ready to take whatever the day throws at you.
--Did you know that perfume and shower or bath gel that
contain citrus essential oils of lemon, lime, orange or grapefruit can
give you a lift? It seems that these citrus smells produce impulses in
the brain that trigger neurochemicals and endorphins that can cause
happiness. So, if you need a little pick-me-up, just spritz a citrus
fragrance on your wrist and every sniff will make you smile.
--I saved the very best for last. Anybody who reads my
column knows that besides recycling and saving money, my other favorite
thing is chocolate. When I read that dark chocolate has flavonoids that
are good for your heart and for your well-being, I just smiled. So eat
chocolate in moderation and feel good about it. It will make you smile.
My thought for the month: Take a minute to notice
something that you never noticed before by looking up instead of ahead.
