Cody Clark, Zac Yeager
Win State Wrestling Titles

Cody Clark, a sophomore, continued his
quest to be a four-time state champion
when he won the 130 lb. championship last Saturday night in the state
wrestling tournament.

Zac Yeager, 215 lbs., jumps into the
arms of volunteer assistant coach Derek Metz as coach Mike Stump and
assistant coach Chris Morris look on. The Calhoun senior ended his high
school career by reaching the ultimate goal of a state championship.
Erin Smith Recognized as History Hero.

Delegate William Stemple (left)
introduced the Calhoun delegation, Terry Harris, Erin Smith and Keith
Smith, during a session of the House of Delegates last Thursday,
February 21.
Fred Armstrong and Erin Smith met last Thursday during
History Day at the Legislature. They were among the 32 people named as
2008 West Virginia History Heroes. Smith was named for her research in
Calhoun County. Armstrong was honored for his work with the W.Va. Labor
History Association. He is also a co-founder of the award.
Knotts Selected For Hall of Fame.

Eucle Knotts has voted in each West Virginia
General Election for at least 50 consecutive years.
Eucle Knotts is presented a medallion and a certificate by Secretary
of State Betty Ireland at a presentation last Friday at the Calhoun
County courthouse.

Pizza Barn Opens on Route 5, East
New place to eat to relax, The Pizza Barn, opened last Friday
in the former Rick's Pro Hardware building on Route 5. They Deliver!


The Pizza Barn has recreation areas for children and adults.

J. Breckenridge Martin is one of six attorneys recently elected as
partners in the law firm of Bowles-Rice-McDavid-Graff & Love, LLP. His
wife is the former Holly Barnes, daughter of Jack and Patricia Ann Burch
Barnes, who are both graduates of Calhoun County High School.

Megan Deel, second year pre-med student,
made the Dean's List with a 4.0 average at the University of Kentucky.
An RA student, she is the daughter of Ricky and Thomasina Deel of
Parkersburg and granddaughter of Addie Miller of Parkersburg and the
late Thomas Miller and Gene and Fern Deel of Chloe.
