The annual Meet the Teams will be held at Calhoun
Middle/ High School on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m.

Expected to lead the CHS varsity football team are these returning

The public will be introduced to members of the
fall sports, including football, volleyball, cross country, cheerleading
and band.
At 7:00, the CHS
football team hosts Paden City in a scrimmage. Admission is $2.
The Red Devils will be led by seven seniors who
have won multi-year letters.
Christian Cottrell, Jacob Haught and Tim Sutro have
lettered all three years, while Randy Fluharty, Zach Moore, Ray Phillips
and Aaron Yoak have lettered twice.
Having lettered one year are seniors Preston Milan,
Daniel Sims and Zach Stump; juniors Caden Arnold, Tyler Bennett and
Dillon Mefford; and sopho-mores Darrenger Fluharty and Cory Metz.
Returning rushers include All-State selection Randy
Fluharty (2,047 yards), quarterback Zach Moore (169) and sophomore
Darrenger Fluharty (143).
Receivers with experience are Aaron Yoak (six
catches for 58 yards) and Randy Fluharty (4 for 55).
Randy Fluharty scored 21 touchdowns, while totaling
136 points.

Senior All-State running back Randy Fluharty (above) may be joined
in the backfield by his brother Darrenger Fluharty, a sophomore.
Moore averaged 50.5 yards on 50 kickoffs and was
successful on 18-of-27 point-after kicks. He also rushed for seven TDs.
Darrenger Fluharty had 18 punts for an average of
31.6 yards.
The Fluharty brothers totaled 583 yards returning
punts and kickoffs.
Defensively, Yoak had two interceptions, four
fumble recoveries, two sacks and was tied with Tim Sutro for second in
tackles with 102.
The Fluharty brothers combined for five
interceptions (Randy 3, Darrenger 2). Randy (68) was fifth in tackles,
while Darrenger (53) was eighth.
Calhoun continues preparations for the season by
participating in the Midland Trail grid-o-rama on Saturday, Aug. 22. The
Red Devils take on Greenbrier-West at 6 p.m. and host Midland Trail at 7
p.m.
CHS
opens the season on Friday, Aug. 28, by hosting Gilmer County at 7:30
p.m.
