In a limited scrimmage, and behind solid line
blocking, the Calhoun offense rushed 30 times for 277 yards on Tuesday
night.
Senior Randy Fluharty rushed for 137 yards on 10
carries, including touchdown runs of two and 47 yards. Sophomore
Darrenger Fluharty had 78 yards on nine rushes, and added an 11-yard TD.
Dan Sims carried three times for 23 yards, while
quarterback Zach Moore netted 32 yards on six carries. He was 0-3
passing, as the Red Devil starters ran 33 plays.
The visiting Paden City Wildcats rushed for 33
yards on six plays during its first series, but lost 17 yards on its
next 11 rushes. The team completed four-of-13 passes for 109 yards and
one touchdown.
The CHS
junior varsity offense was shutout, while allowing Paden City JV a
21-yard scoring pass.
Calhoun continues preparations for the season by
participating in the Midland Trail grid-o-rama on Saturday, Aug. 22. The
Red Devils take on Green-brier-West at 6 p.m. and host Midland Trail at
7 p.m.
CHS
opens the season on Friday, Aug. 28, by hosting Gilmer County at 7:30
p.m.
