Due to the weather, the Little Kanawha Conference Championship Wrestling Tournament was postponed until Saturday, Feb. 13.

A record 12 teams will participate in the 47th annual event at Roane County High School. Competition gets underway at 11 a.m.

Although a few changes are expected in the line ups, according to last week’s brackets, the teams, along with number of wrestlers and top three seeds in individual weight classes, are as follows:

Braxton (13, 3), Calhoun (12, 9), Clay (14, 8), Parkersburg Catholic (4, 0), Ravenswood (12, 0), Ritchie (11, 0), Roane (10, 3), St. Marys (8, 2), South Harrison (6, 0), Tyler Consolidated (12, 2), Williamstown (11, 6), and Wirt (14, 9).

Calhoun has three top seeds, Cody Clark (135 lbs.), Ben Laughlin (152) and Jared Haught (160); four second seeds, Zach Hanshaw (145), Aaron Yoak (171), Tim Sutro (189) and Caden Arnold (215), and two third seeds, Seth Wease (140) and Christian Cottrell (285).

Also expected to help the team are starters Levi Gordon (103), Ricky Allen (112) and Austin Moore (125).

Calhoun, which has missed only one tournament since LKC wrestling began in 1964, finished runner up eight times without a team championship until 2002. Since then, the Red Devils have won seven of the last eight titles.

During the first 17 years, CHS produced 15 individual champions. Since the Calhoun program expanded in 1981, Red Devil wrestlers have won 59 titles over the last 30 years.

Coach Mike Stump, who took over in 1988, has had 48 individual conference champions.
