The Calhoun County High School wrestling team, ranked fourth in Class AA-A, was scheduled to participate in the Roane County High School Duals on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m.

In addition to fifth ranked Roane, the round robin event includes eighth ranked Wirt County, Grafton, Ravenswood, and Ripley B.

The Red Devils are 24-3 in tournaments this season. Losses have come to the top three ranked teams: Oak Glen, Pt. Pleasant, and Berkeley Springs.

Cody Clark (140 lbs.) continues to lead the team with a 14-0 record. He has nine pins and a team-high 80 points.

Aaron Yoak (171), who missed the last tournament due to illness, is 5-0, all by pins.

Ben Laughlin (152) is 12-1, with six pins and 67.5 points.

Four players have two losses: Zach Hanshaw (9-2, 145), Jared Haught (12-2, 160), Tim Sutro (14-2, 189, team high 11 pins), and Caden Arnold (12-2, 215).

Close behind are Austin Moore (6-3, 130), Seth Wease (12-4, 135), and Christian Cottrell (8-5, 285). Aaron Dawson-Jarvis (130) is 4-4.

First-year wrestlers Levi Gordon, Ricky Allen and Dillon Richards picked up their first varsity wins at Pt. Pleasant.

Roane County will also be the site of the Little Kanawha Conference Tournament on Feb. 6 and the regional qualifying tournament on Feb. 19-20.

Calhoun’s next event is the Nitro Invitational on Friday, Jan. 8, at 2:30 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 9, at 9:30 a.m.
