The public has selected Calhoun County High School’s “The Vintage Era All-Star Football Team,” covering players from 1923-1979, and “The Modern Era All-Star Football Team,” covering players from 1980-2006.

More than 600 ballots were submitted, either through the newspaper or on-line. Vintage era players received 3,206 votes and modern era players received 3,095 votes.

The Vintage team includes brothers, Wayne “Pokey” Hardway and Phillip “Duke” Hardway, in the defensive back/linebacker category. Wayne led the Vintage team in votes with 106, followed by Danny “Nub” Marks with 105. Voters also selected Jim Garretson in two categories, as a tackle and as a defensive back/linebacker.

The Modern team was led by the late Rick Smith with 116 votes in the defensive end/back category. The voters also selected father and son combinations with Paul Goodrich (2002-05), offensive back, and Paul Goodrich (1978-81), linebacker, and with Jeff Goodrich (1980-83) and Jeff Goodrich (2004- ), both as defensive ends/backs. Selected in two categories were Brian Stump and Josh Ramsey. Josh was joined by brother Justin Ramsey as offensive/defensive linemen.

A random drawing was held from everyone who submitted a ballot. The winner was Seana Miller.
