Have you decided who your favorite candidates will be in
the Primary Election on Tuesday, May 11?
It is only 27 days until we will have the opportunity to
vote for our next officials. One thing is certain, some of us will vote
with the majority and others of us will not. There will be winners and
losers. Sometimes, it is hard to lose.
I would like to share with you something I read
recently.
Read Psalm 72 before voting. It doesn’t talk about
winning or losing. It is a prayer of values, not victory. It focuses on
justice for all, especially those who have no political power. It
focuses on prosperity for all, especially those who are not prosperous,
and peace for everyone throughout God’s creation. It is also a prayer
that governments protect everyone and not serve their own interests.
We have people in the nations of our heritage that still
are not allowed the privilege of voting. Our ancestors gave up living in
their own lands, just for privileges that we take for granted. Even our
children understand that it is a privilege to keep your vote a secret.
We do not have to tell anyone!
Again, it is only 27 days until we vote. Prepare
yourselves by studying the candidates, read what they are saying. Do you
really want to elect someone again who did not follow through on
promises? Teach your children about the rights of citizenship.
Which candidate will really represent you? Don’t just
sit there, prepare to vote!
