Signs of fall are in the air. Young people are out all
over the county practicing for sports, families are taking their last
leisurely trips, area parks are having events, college students are
preparing to leave home, and area children are getting excited about
school.
This all brings opportunities for sharing news of their
activities. The Calhoun Chronicle cares, not just about the winners, but
the participants.
We are asking coaches and parents to make sure that
information about your teams and games are sent to us. This insures that
players and teams get the recognition that encourages them. Our staff
gets out to many of the activities, but your input is always needed.
With all of the great events that occur in Calhoun
throughout the year, we always look forward to the input of the
community to be certain that we are able to share as much information as
possible. Our staff enjoys attending county events, but we cannot be
everywhere all the time.
College students and their parents are also asked to
participate. If you and your new college student would like to document
the beginning of college life for your family, send us a short story and
a few photos of that special moving in day. During the year, news of
local students is not always available from the campuses, so parents and
students should never hesitate to share it themselves.
County schools try diligently to get information about
upcoming events, but parents and teachers are also welcome to share
items of interest about students. If your student is interested in being
a writer, this is an opportunity to begin building a portfolio of
published articles before leaving middle school or high school.
You can send information and photos by email,
contact@calhounchronicle.com; mail, The Calhoun Chronicle, P.O. Box
400, Grantsville, WV 26147; or drop it off at the office, Main St.,
Grantsville. Photos can be returned.
