While Calhoun Historical Society members were recording donated
items, a doorknob reminder was found from the Presidential Election of
1952. It reminded Americans to vote to keep the freedom. The reminders
were taken to each home by members of Boy Scouts Troop 83 of
Grantsville. Doyle Elliott was the scoutmaster.

This was an era when relationships between the U.S. and Russia was at
a crucial point. Incumbent president Harry S Truman decided not to run,
so the Democratic party nominated Gov. Adlai Stevenson of Illinois. The
Republican candidate was war hero Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, who won by
a large majority.
The front of the card carried important guidelines for voting in
1952, and they still hold true 56 years later:
VOTE AS YOU THINK,
THINK WHEN YOU VOTE.
TODAY’S YOUTH COUNTS ON YOU.
USE YOUR FREEDOM TO
VOTE!
The back of the card carried a credo of American Life
that we still hold in our hearts today:
