This was written on Monday night before the
election.
Do you know that there is a nationwide group of
Christians who have been praying for this election? It is known as the
Presidential Prayer Team and they are praying for the entire election
process--the candidates, campaigns and all of it. We will pray that all
Americans show a willingness to get involved in the elections, resisting
complacent and passive attitudes. Let each one of us know the value of
our vote, and let each one exercise our privilege with diligence and
faith. Lord, we ask for fairness and justice at the polls May it be just
and equitable, revealing the truth in a decisive way.
Almighty God,
Lord, as we enter into the upcoming elections, we
ask that You would give us--at every level--leaders who are men and
women after Your own heart.
Give us leaders who will lead with integrity and
truth. May they be men and women of conviction who are more concerned
about doing what is right than about securing a high approval rating.
Guide us to candidates who are honest in the midst
of what is often a jaded political process. Although no one is perfect,
show us which candidates have been tainted the least and who desire what
is best for all Americans.
Please lead us to vote for people who not only have
deep seated morals but are grounded in a relationship with You. May
these people seek direction from Your Word and from godly advisors. May
they be men and women of prayer who understand that they are answerable
to You. And may they be courageous enough to walk in obedience to what
You have required of them.
Equip our leaders with the skills to make and pass
laws with knowledge and understanding. Give them the wisdom to know how
to achieve consensus.
Lord God, You are the one who sets up leaders and
deposes them. You are the one who gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge
to the discerning. This Tuesday, open the eyes of the American voters so
we will see past the appearances and into the heart. Through our
leaders, may You turn our hearts toward you.

On Wednesday, we will thank God for working in our
Nation through the elections. We put our trust in Him to use the
President-Elect--and every person chosen--to serve His great and high
purposes for our nation. Grant that we may surround every leader with
our support and faithful prayers. Encourage our President- and Vice
President-Elect through the power of Your Spirit. Amen.
