A group of students were asked to list the seven
wonders of the world. Most were in agreement. Their list contained:
1. Egypt’s great pyramid
2. The Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon
4. Panama Canal
5. St. Peter’s Basilica
6. Empire State Building
7. Great Wall of China
The teacher noticed that one student had not
finished her list. She asked, “Are you having trouble with the list?”
The student answered, “Yes, because there are so
many.”
The teacher said, “Tell us what you have and maybe
we can help.”
The girl hesitated and then said, “I think the
seven wonders of the world are:
1. To see
2. To hear
3. To touch
4. To feel
5. To laugh
6. To love.”
The room was very quiet.
She added, “The greatest wonder of all is God’s
amazing love for all of us.”
The things we overlook are simple and ordinary. We
take them for granted. The most precious gifts of all cannot be built by
hand or bought by man.
This was sent to me by a young granddaughter.
Each week, as I talk to Calhoun County people, I
hear over and over, “Everyone here is so friendly,” “I just moved here
and everyone waves to me,” or “I don’t know anyone, but each person I
meet smiles at me.”
Keep it up, Calhouners! You have a wonderful gift
to give.
