THINK
SPRING - March 2, 2006
Think Green! Think Spring!
We turned the calendar page
this week! Winter is winding down!
Here are several selected
definitions of spring from the dictionary: to stretch or open
out, to arise, an elastic quality, to recover shape after being
compressed, bent or stretched.
For me, spring is when I
turn the calendar page from February to March. I am in such a
hurry for spring that I actually was thinking about putting away
the heavy winter clothes of winter this morning.
But I know that even in
April we may have snow. Can you remember a spring snow after the
flowers are peeping out of the ground? I always am surprised
when the flowers which were bent over by six inches of snow,
bounce back and go about their business of blooming and being
beautiful again.
Trees can appear devastated
by ice storms, bent clear to the ground, apparently ruined. We
shake off the ice and trim the injured parts. Then comes spring.
With God’s healing touch, a green shower of leaves hides the
hurt and after a few springs, we forget about the damage.
This is true with people
too. A very few never recover, but most are like nature. They
have the amazing ability to repair their hurts and
disappointments. Why not? We all have the same Healer.
Have faith that we can
recover from storms, whether in our personal lives or in our
community. We cannot let the damage destroy us. We will bounce
back!
