CO-WORKERS - August 10, 2006
I am not good at poetry, so I am using the following
poem from Amanda Bradley to express my thoughts for our Chronicle staff,
which in my mind, is another family to me.
A FAMILY IS A BLESSING . . .
IT MEANS SO MANY THINGS,
WORDS COULD NEVER REALLY TELL
THE JOY A FAMILY BRINGS.
A FAMILY IS A BOND OF FAITH,
A WARMTH AND HEARTFELT PRIDE
THAT COMES FROM KNOWING THOSE
WHO CARE ARE ALWAYS AT YOUR SIDE.
A FAMILY IS A PLACE TO SHARE
YOUR TROUBLES, HOPES AND PLANS,
A PLACE WHERE SOMEONE ALWAYS LISTENS,
ALWAYS UNDERSTANDS.
A FAMILY IS A LASTING LOVE
THAT HOLDS US CLOSE TOGETHER.
A FAMILY IS A BLESSING . . .
FOR A FAMILY IS FOREVER.
We have been through many situations in the last four
years that have helped me to respect and feel the above sentiments for
you all. I know you are not comfortable with mushy thoughts and words,
but I have to let you know that I do feel you are one of my families.
Your support and encouragement through cancer, dis-appointments, and
confusion have been a source of strength to me
Newton, I have learned from you what is acceptable in
newspapers and how to better express adverse feelings in a non-
controversial way. Your respect for Carl Morris will always be
remembered.
Lisa, I have learned from you about techniques and
resources. Your enthusiasm, new ideas, and seeing both sides of a
situation have set a good example.
Bill Bailey, I have learned from you to keep my camera
glued to my side, computers are not frightening, and to use your phone
number when in doubt.
Maureen, I have learned from you about dedication and
consistency. Your ability to manage office duties has been un-wavering,
even during times of crisis.
Bill Morris, I have learned from observing your people
skills that listening to employees and working with them in a kind and
firm way achieves the most important results.
You are more than employees, we are co-workers.
