I woke up Tuesday morning and faced the unknown of the
day.
Even though I thought I knew what would happen before it
was over, it didn’t turn out as expected.
The telephone
will ring, emails will come, and news will come in the mail.
Who will I meet today? Who will I see, a good friend, an
interesting stranger? And even though the folks are familiar, what will
they do or say?
There are many people waiting in the wings of life to
speak their lines, to have a conversation or discussion that will affect
both of us in many ways.
There will be words of love, frustration, differences,
persuasion, and praise. There will be many lines that are unrehearsed
and unwritten--just the simple exchanges of everyday.
After I returned from a visit to the West Fork Senior
Citizens Center, I had seen old friends, made new friends, learned new
bits of information, laughed over life, with never a feeling of stress.
There were men, women, Calhoun born, imports from New
York and Thailand, aging and ageless, but a common thread of love of
people, county, country and God. They really cared!
There was the feeling of a cozy home, a home where
living is the expression of everything that is good. There was a
comfortable feeling of knowing I was welcome to come again.
I love this God-given adventure of the daily drama of
life. Sometimes a comedy, a few tragedies, but always a new day full of
expectation.
