It is time to think and pray about the upcoming
election to be held in Calhoun County.
We must remember that even a minor or appointed
official can make decisions that may affect our lives and the future of
our nation.
There will be opportunities for candidates to
present their ideas and beliefs. Take the time to read/hear what they
support. If they are holding office now, make sure that they are
listening to what the people are saying. Can you be proud of their
actions? All citizens have the right to attend meetings of public
officials. Exercise this responsibility.
They can determine the future of America, for us
and our descendants. How will you be remembered? Can they remember you
as an ancestor who cared enough to pray and vote, or one who can’t make
the effort to have a voice in their future?
2008 Prayer for Our Nation
by Dr. Ravi Zacharias
2008 Honorary
Chairman, National Day of Prayer Task Force
Holy Father, in a world where so many
are hungry,
You have given us food in abundance;
In a world where so many are hurting,
You offer to bind up our wounds;
In a world where so many are lonely,
You offer friendship to every heart;
In a world longing for peace,
You offer hope.
Yet, we are so stubborn and resistant.
Have mercy upon us, Lord.
Our nation is at a crossroads this
year;
we look to you to be our strength and
shield.
Please give us the guidance to elect
one who will honor you
and to respond to the wisdom from
above
so that our hope may be renewed and
our blessings be treasured.
