Last Wednesday was a day of Calhoun Pride!
Students at Calhoun Middle/High School organized a
prayer group, “Meet Me At the Pole.” The planners were expecting about
20 participants, but were overwhelmed when 60 students, educators, and
residents turned out at the early hour of 7:30 for the purpose of
prayer.
The prayers were heartfelt and sincere, and
included every aspect of their lives. This is an annual affair, but
because of the interest, it may be held more often. We are proud of
young people who are not afraid to voice their faith in God and ask for
His guidance.
It was announced on Monday evening last week that
the Veterans of Foreign Wars wanted to erect a flagpole and dedicate a
flag at Grantsville Community Park. When the Chronicle received word on
Tuesday evening that the event would be held the next day at 1 p.m., it
was a pleasant surprise. It was heartwarming to watch the speed and
cooperation of this group of men as they worked. They had set several
other poles that morning.
The men had all served their country in the
military, and their pride in this smaller service was important to them.
All stood very erect and gave a snappy salute to the flag, as they
represented servicemen through the ages. We thank you all.
