“We always
thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually
remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your
labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord
Jesus Christ (1 Thess. 1:2-3).”
This is part of the weekly prayer tip from the
National Day of Prayer organization. It suggests, “Let the Spirit remind
you of people who have been instrumental in your spiritual life. As you
are thanking God for them, write notes of appreciation to them. Some may
be currently in your life. Some may be from years before. Rejoice in the
treasure God has put in your life in the form of His people."
When I read this, I realize that I am fortunate to
have the Chronicle as a means of reaching many people at one time. So I
am thanking God and you, the people of Calhoun County, who have shared
so much of your friendship and caring through the years.
The news of Randall Whytsell’s death was also
announced on the day that I read this tip. I have known him only a few
years, but he and his family reached out to me with love.
He told me stories of a time in my Dad’s life that
I would not have known about. I was invited to their home and even a
family reunion. I thank God for the privilege of having him cross my
path.
