Behind the scenes, all
around the county, committees and boards are meeting to make plans for
this summer’s events. In fact, this weekend is the annual event that
launches the festivities of the season--the Upper West Fork Ramp Dinner.
Calhoun
County Wood Festival has a spring event this weekend as well, an ATV
fundraiser.
Relay for
Life, reunions, prom, graduation, and UWF horse shows are currently in
the planning stages.
Never mind
the weather. This weekend’s events are the annual launch for the spring
and summer seasons. with ramps picked in the mountain snows and
4-wheelers splashing through muddy paths, there may be an odor, or quite
a bit of dirt, but those are symbols of another winter past us now.
People are
planning for events that allow us to laugh, dance, eat, visit, sing,
clap, and enjoy life. You don’t often get to see them at their meetings,
around tables and desks in the cool evenings, but they are making plans
for you.
Why not make your plans
to attend some of these annual events as well?
Graduation
is May 25, the Wood Festival is the first weekend in
June,
and Relay for Life is June 23. The UWF Bluegrass Festival, with
fireworks, is Fourth of July weekend, and not long after comes the Ox
Roast and the Molasses Festival. You can start this weekend, of course,
with the ramp dinner and ATV event.
Just as
flowers prep below the earth, almost ready to spring forth, event
planners throughout the county are preparing, behind the scenes, for
your future enjoyment.
