Expect a limited stocking to occur at Calhoun
County Park within the next two weeks. The project has been a real eye
opener for me. A special thanks goes out to any person/business that has
helped.
Youths of the county will be the first to fish the
pond. Expect a Youth Day as an opening event. Volunteers will be needed.
Any adult fishing the ponds needs a valid West Virginia license and a
trout stamp. Youths do not need a license. The daily limit on trout is
six. Hopefully, the DNR will patrol the area.
Warmwater fish have been biting. As of this
writing, I’ve caught over 50 bass for the year and probably as many
bluegills. Bluegills make excellent table fare. The early spring is your
best time to tangle with a large fish. Go out and give it a shot.
Anyone wishing to volunteer for Youth Day can email
me at coryboothe@hotmail.com.
