In order to broaden the horizons of our young
children, sixth graders from Calhoun County attended a live performance
of the show “Footloose” at Cliffside Amphitheater near Beckley.
They also toured the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine
and took a walking tour
of Tamarack,
and were treated to a gourmet lunch.
While the kids were thrilled by the dark and
sinister feel of the coal mine and awed by the crafts at Tamarack, the
general consensus of the children was that the live play of Footloose
was, “Maybe it would have been better in 3-D.”
