Cable and satellite television viewers are familiar
with the History Channel show,
American Pickers. They have been to
before, filming part of a show in the
area and picking up some Hatfield and McCoy items from southern counties
along the border with Kentucky.
This time they are coming to
“We got some calls from people who have watched the
show and they told us that there are many antiques and collectables
sitting in barns all over the county, gathering dust and waiting to be
discovered,” said the show’s producer, Ronald Silverlight.
“What really convinced us to come to Calhoun County
was a message we received from an auctioneer friend of ours, who told us
about some of things he has sold at estate auctions there. He said that
there is no better selection to be found anywhere in the USA.”
So, if you see a white delivery van with “Antique
Archeology” on the side, don’t shoot at it, it’s just Mike and his
sidekick Frank, “The Bearded Charmer,” come to give you some money for
stuff you have sitting around gathering dust and rust.
